This also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.

The following sermon was preached by Rev. Andrew Allen, in Struan, at the Bracadale Communion Action Service on The Lord’s Day, 18th June, 2017.

The text is Mark 14:3-9: “And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head. And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made? For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her. And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me. For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always. She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying. Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.”

“This also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.”

Somebody hath touched me

The following sermon was preached by Rev. Raymond Kemp, in Struan, at the Friday Evening Bracadale Communion Service on 16th June, 2017.

The text is The Gospel of Luke Chapter 8:43-48: “And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched. And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me. And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately. And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.”

“And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.”
